We offer several positions including Agronomy Intern positions that focus either on Warehouse/Plant operations or Office/Customer Service. Regardless of your focus, you’ll gain valuable exposure to different aspects of our business. Interns work at one of our three office locations—Orangeville, Redickville, or Stayner—and typically have the chance to engage in hands-on activities such as soil sampling and potato scouting.

Holmes Agro is seeking self-motivated, diligent, AZ and/or DZ Operator to join our team. This role will help ensure our customers receive the supplies and products they need for a successful growing season.
This role is permanent full-time, however, seasonal flexibility is required to support our customers during our peak seasons in the Spring and Fall based on the growing season cycle. Throughout the Spring and Fall, our work availability fluctuates and requires some long days and hours. During our off seasons, there are opportunities for paid time off and task variety supporting other important operational activities.
Our ideal candidate is someone who has flexibility to be able to meet the demands of the business and who is not just a driver, but someone who is able to represent Holmes Agro in a professional way, provide general customer service to our customers and be a support among our seasonal drivers.
The position will have the following responsibilities:
Safe operation of delivery truck for bulk fertilizer, bagged/toted fertilizer, seed, chemical, and liquid deliveries within Ontario
Daily inspection and maintenance of delivery unit, including preventative maintenance to keep equipment operating efficiently while minimizing downtime
Provide a consistent level of customer service
Follow internal process and practices and ensure all paperwork is organized and documented according to guidelines and policies to ensure good record-keeping for our customers
Assist operational activities during down times at our plant locations. Duties would vary and could include filling tote bags, operation of forklift to load and unload shipments and deliveries, general maintenance, vehicle upkeep, etc.
Maintain good housekeeping in plant, yard, and vehicle during down time between scheduled deliveries
The successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
Valid AZ and/or DZ license with good driving record
Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles, required (ideally, 3-5 years experience)
Comfort in operating flat deck, curtain side, tender trucks, and on occasion, water trucks
Customer service oriented with a positive attitude, dedication to personal improvement and skill development
Ability to complete necessary forms and tickets tied to customer deliveries accurately and consistently
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment both as an individual and part of a team
Willing to work seasonably long hours in Spring and Fall as required
Good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail

We are seeking individuals who are self-motivated, outgoing, and sales-oriented with an agriculture background and expertise and ability to market our products and services. Through this partnership, our Sales Agronomists will leverage their leadership and persuasion skills to provide value added solutions and drive growth.
What you’ll do:
Assist Ontario growers improve their productivity and crop outputs
Travel daily within your assigned region in peak seasons to meet current and prospective customers, generating leads by conducting cold calls and follow up visits, to generate and optimize sales opportunities
Cultivate and strengthen relationships with growers by providing on-farm consultations, developing crop plans and providing agronomic advice and actions to improve crop protection
Anticipate and address customers changing needs throughout the seasons and provide recommendations based on routine crop scouting, soil, tissue sampling, and analyzing customer data housed within our proprietary MyFarm system
Be an expert in our full line of crop inputs, including crop protection products, seeds and custom fertilizers
Ensure exceptional customer experiences by collaborating with internal teams to ensure seamless deliveries to growers by working to support fertilizer, seed and crop protection purchases
Support customers stewardship efforts such as 4R’s, precision agriculture, pest assessments & record keeping
Accurately record all visit and call details in our MyFarm and order systems
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless deliveries to our growers to ensure exceptional customer experiences
Provide back-up support for internal operational activities on an as-needed basis
Experience and Qualifications:
Must have a passion for agriculture and helping growers feed Canadians
Strong knowledge of crop inputs, seed and crop protections
5-10 years of inside or outside sales experience, outside sales experience preferred
Graduate from a Canadian agriculture college or university program preferred, but not required
Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) designation preferred or willingness to work towards it
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to allow you to provide a positive experience and work collaboratively with customers, suppliers and internal team
Strong time management and organizational skills

Holmes Agro is seeking a self-motivated, outgoing and customer service-oriented individual with an agriculture background and a passion and demonstrated ability in sales and marketing to work out of our Stayner location. We are looking for an individual keen on building relationships with our customers and growers to better understand their business and needs. Through this partnership, you will learn to grow your leadership, persuasion and selling skills to support the creation of value-added solutions and drive growth.
What you’ll do:
Hone your sales and customer service skills by working directly with customers in our office and through grower site visits, while growing your knowledge of Holmes Agro’s products and services
Promote Holmes Agro products, services and solutions to customers and growers both in office and out on site or farm visits
Travel weekly to various customer locations to participate in crop scouting and integrated pest management efforts through the growing season for row and potential horticulture crops
Participate in soil and tissue sampling on customer sites in late Summer and Fall with guidance and support from a more senior member of our Agronomy team
Shadow senior agronomy staff on customer visits to learn how we position agronomic plans, tools and products to maximize customer crop performance and increase sales
Partner with Agronomy team members to support the development of crop plans and agronomic solutions using our innovative in house MyFarm database
Support customers stewardship efforts such as 4R’s, precision agriculture, pest assessments and record keeping
Accurately support the record keeping of customer information and data within our MyFarm and order systems to support seamless deliveries to our growers which helps to ensure exceptional customer experiences
Gain exposure, insights and provide some support to our delivery and dispatch operations which ensures our products are getting delivered to our customers or applied to their fields
Provide back-up support for internal operational activities on an as-needed basis that would involve marketing and day-to-day operational opportunities.
Experience and Qualifications:
Must have a passion for agriculture and helping growers feed Canadians
Some knowledge of crop inputs, seed and crop protections
1-3 years of inside or outside sales experience, outside sales experience preferred
1-3 years of customer service experience
Graduate or working towards an agriculture related degree from a Canadian agriculture college or university program preferred, but not required
A Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) designation, in progress, or interest in working and being assisted towards a CCA designation
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to allow you to converse with customers to provide a positive experience and work collaboratively with customers, suppliers and internal team
