Experienced Professional Applicator

We’re seeking a skilled, confident operator to join our team and take responsibility for delivering precise, efficient, and customer‑focused fertilizer applications. In this advanced role, you’ll independently run modern applicator equipment, perform daily maintenance and troubleshooting, and ensure every job is completed safely and accurately using current GPS and onboard technology. What You’ll Do:
  • Operate both dry and liquid application equipment using advanced onboard technology to deliver safe, timely, and accurate applications of fertilizer, crop nutrition products, and crop protection products.
  • Conduct daily inspections, maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of equipment to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and uptime.
  • Operate application equipment independently with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency, including GPS setup, software management, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
  • Ensure accurate product loading, handling, transportation, and application in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize precision agriculture technologies, including GPS guidance systems, application controllers, and mapping software, to optimize application performance.
  • Provide operational support and mentorship to junior and seasonal applicators as required.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance during all operations.
  • Foster respectful, professional, and customer-focused relationships with customers, vendors, and team members.
  • Take ownership of the complete care, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment, ensuring it is operationally ready for the next shift.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Valid G license; willing to work toward an AZ or DZ license.
  • 3+ years of experience operating agricultural equipment; dry and liquid application experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, including troubleshooting and minor equipment repairs.
  • Experience with GPS guidance systems, precision agriculture technology, and application software.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced seasonal environment, including extended hours as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Pesticide applicator certification or willingness to obtain required licensing is considered an asset.

What You’ll Do:

  • Operate dry and liquid application equipment in a professional manner using available technology to deliver crop inputs safely, accurately, and efficiently while developing the skills required for independent operation.
  • Conduct daily inspections, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and minimize downtime.
  • Assist with the loading, handling, transportation, and application of fertilizer, crop protection products, and other crop inputs in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Work approximately 50% in plant/shop maintenance and 50% in limited applicator operation (season-dependent).
  • Participate in structured, hands-on training focused on equipment operation, calibration, product handling, maintenance, safety procedures, and precision agriculture technologies.
  • Work alongside senior applicators to learn equipment operation, calibration, GPS guidance systems, precision agriculture technology, and safe application practices.
  • Support yard and plant operations during peak seasons.
  • Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and customer-focused approach when working with customers and team members.
  • Willingness to learn proper equipment cleaning and maintenance procedures, leaving all equipment ready for operation at the end of each shift.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Valid G license; willing to work toward an AZ or DZ license.

  • Eager and able to learn new systems, technologies, and precision agriculture tools.

AZDZ Driver

Seasonal AZ / DZ Driver

Holmes Agro is seeking a dedicated and responsible seasonal AZ/DZ Delivery Driver to join our team.  You will also play a key part in ensuring customer satisfaction by providing excellent service and assisting with various tasks at the facility. If you have a strong work ethic, a valid AZ or DZ license, ability to drive manual transmission trucks and a passion for providing top-notch customer service, we want to hear from you!

Below are the responsibilities and qualifications for this role.

The position will have the following responsibilities:

  • Safe operation of delivery truck for bulk fertilizer, bagged/toted fertilizer, seed, chemical, and liquid deliveries within Ontario
  • Daily inspection and maintenance of delivery unit, including preventative maintenance to keep equipment operating efficiently while minimizing downtime
  • Be knowledgeable about Holmes Agro’s Lawn and Garden product lineup
  • Follow internal process and practices and ensure all paperwork is organized and documented according to guidelines and policies to ensure good record-keeping for our customers
  • Assist when required at the facility. Duties may include filling tote bags, operation of forklift to load and unload shipments and deliveries
  • Maintain good housekeeping in plant, yard, and vehicle during down time between scheduled deliveries

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Valid AZ or DZ license with good driving record
  • Comfort in operating flat deck, curtain side, tender trucks, and on occasion, water trucks
  • Customer service oriented with a positive attitude and a dedication to personal improvement and skill development
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment both as an individual and part of a team, and willing to work seasonably long hours as required
  • Good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to drive manual transmission
