Experienced Professional Applicator

We’re seeking a skilled, confident operator to join our team and take responsibility for delivering precise, efficient, and customer‑focused fertilizer applications. In this advanced role, you’ll independently run modern applicator equipment, perform daily maintenance and troubleshooting, and ensure every job is completed safely and accurately using current GPS and onboard technology. You’ll also play a key role in supporting and mentoring junior team members while maintaining the professionalism, attention to detail, and strong work ethic that define our operation. What You’ll Do:
  • Operate dry fertilizer application equipment using onboard technology to deliver timely, accurate applications.
  • Daily inspection and maintenance of equipment in such a manner to optimize efficiency and accuracy as well as minimize downtime.
  • Operate applicator equipment independently with high accuracy and efficiency, including basic troubleshooting, minor repairs, and GPS/software setup and calibration.
  • Provides operational support and mentorship to junior or seasonal applicators as needed.
  • Strong commitment to safety procedures and regulatory compliance during all operations.
  • Maintains a respectful, inclusive, and customer‑focused approach when working with customers and team members.
  • Responsible for the complete care, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment, ensuring it is ready for operation at the end of every shift.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Valid AZ or DZ license (or actively working toward one); experience operating agricultural equipment is an asset. 3+ years of experience operating agricultural application equipment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to perform in a fast‑paced, seasonal environment (including extended hours as required).
  • Confident with current computer technology and various GPS software platforms.
  • Comfortable operating farm equipment and delivery trucks.
  • Interest in leadership, management and entrepreneurship is strongly encouraged.

Junior Professional Applicator

We’re looking for an eager, motivated individual who’s ready to learn the skills of professional fertilizer application while supporting day‑to‑day plant and yard operations. In this hands‑on, fast‑paced role, you’ll split your time between equipment operation and shop/plant maintenance, gaining real‑world experience with modern application technology, GPS systems, and agricultural equipment. With structured training, mentorship from senior applicators, and opportunities to grow your technical and leadership skills, this position is perfect for someone looking to build a long‑term future in the agricultural industry.

What You’ll Do:

  • Operate the company’s dry fertilizer application equipment in a professional manner using all available technology to deliver product both timely and accurately, leaving the customer with a positive experience.
  • Daily inspection and maintenance of equipment in such a manner to optimize efficiency and accuracy as well as minimize downtime.
  • Work approximately 50% in plant/shop maintenance and 50% in limited applicator operation (season‑dependent).
  • Participate in structured, hands‑on training with regular check‑ins and milestones, progressing toward independent equipment operation.
  • Shadow senior applicators to learn equipment operation, calibration, and safety procedures. Support yard and plant operations during peak seasons.
  • Maintains a respectful, inclusive, and customer‑focused approach when working with customers and team members.
  • Willingness to learn proper equipment cleaning and maintenance procedures, leaving all equipment ready for operation at the end of each shift.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Valid G license; willing to work toward an AZ or DZ license.
  • Confident with current computer technology and various GPS software platforms.
  • Eager and able to learn new systems, technologies, and GPS platforms.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to perform in a fast‑paced, seasonal environment (including extended hours as required).
  • Experience operating agricultural or heavy equipment is an asset but not required.
  • Interest in leadership, management and entrepreneurship is strongly encouraged.

Sales Agronomist

Sales Agronomist

Holmes Agro is looking to hire two Sales Agronomists: one for the Stayner location and another for the Orangeville location.

We are seeking individuals who are self-motivated, outgoing, and sales-oriented with an agriculture background and expertise and ability to market our products and services. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about building relationships with our customers and growers to better understand their business and needs. Through this partnership, our Sales Agronomists will leverage their leadership and persuasion skills to provide value added solutions and drive growth.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist Ontario growers improve their productivity and crop outputs
  • Travel daily within your assigned region in peak seasons to meet current and prospective customers, generating leads by conducting cold calls and follow up visits, to generate and optimize sales opportunities
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with growers by providing on-farm consultations, developing crop plans and providing agronomic advice and actions to improve crop protection
  • Anticipate and address customers changing needs throughout the seasons and provide recommendations based on routine crop scouting, soil, tissue sampling, and analyzing customer data housed within our proprietary MyFarm system
  • Be an expert in our full line of crop inputs, including crop protection products, seeds and custom fertilizers
  • Ensure exceptional customer experiences by collaborating with internal teams to ensure seamless deliveries to growers by working to support fertilizer, seed and crop protection purchases
  • Support customers stewardship efforts such as 4R’s, precision agriculture, pest assessments & record keeping
  • Accurately record all visit and call details in our MyFarm and order systems
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless deliveries to our growers to ensure exceptional customer experiences
  • Provide back-up support for internal operational activities on an as-needed basis

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Must have a passion for agriculture and helping growers feed Canadians
  • Strong knowledge of crop inputs, seed and crop protections
  • 5-10 years of inside or outside sales experience, outside sales experience preferred
  • Graduate from a Canadian agriculture college or university program preferred, but not required
  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) designation preferred or willingness to work towards it
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to allow you to provide a positive experience and work collaboratively with customers, suppliers and internal team
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ownership/entrepreneurial mind set to help grow and shape our business
  • Computer navigation skills and ability to competently work with Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Willingness to work seasonably long hours in Spring and Fall during peak growing seasons
